Oleen Announces VistA Support Capabilities

Silver Spring, MD - Oleen Healthcare Information Management, an information technology consulting firm to the healthcare industry, announced today that it will begin offering a full suite of support services for the VistA (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture) healthcare information system.  VistA is an enterprise-wide software system built around an electronic health record.

"We now have the full capability to install, configure, and support the VistA software in every care setting, from hospitals to medical groups and nursing homes," said Barbara Boykin, President of Oleen.  "We are eager to put VistA to work, because it is the first fully-functional, completely integrated, patient-centric electronic medical record available for healthcare organizations." 

VistA was developed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  With over 140 separate modules, the software can be configured to fit any type of provider organization, including clinics, medical practices, nursing homes, and large hospitals. The Institute of Medicine has called the VistA electronic records system "one of the best in the nation."  As healthcare organizations are being encouraged to utilize EMRs to improve quality, reduce errors, and lower costs, they are turning to a new generation of tools.  VistA provides all of these tools-including computerized order entry, bar coding, electronic prescribing, PACS, handheld and wireless-from a true patient-centric system. 

Oleen has assembled a team of experienced healthcare and IT professionals to install, configure, and maintain the VistA software in any care setting.  Oleen will customize and integrate VistA with existing systems, and provide documentation and training to help organizations take full advantage of the software.

Oleen is also a member of WorldVistA, an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting OpenVista, an open source version of VistA that is in development.
